Our Activities
Developing Guinea’s potential for bauxite production
Founded in 2014, Société Minière de Boké (SMB) is now Guinea’s leading producer and exporter of bauxite. A pioneer in the construction of road, rail, and logistics infrastructure supporting the bauxite value chain, SMB’s production reached 55 million tons in 2024. Today, SMB accounts for 38% of Guinea’s national production and 39% of its bauxite exports. SMB has thus enabled Guinea to become the world’s leading producer of bauxite.
Our activities
Since it was founded in 2014, SMB has developed various ports and logistics activities by constructing, extending and managing the international river port of Boké, composed of two river terminals, in Dapilon and Katougouma.
In addition, since June 2021, the Société Minière de Boké has commissioned a rail line for the transport of minerals, the first rail line built in the country since the 1970s. The railway will link the Santou II and Houda deposits to the river port of Dapilon and includes 21 bridges, two tunnels and six depots.
